The first of three Harmonica Masters Concerts 2022 begins with the unusual duo of Joel Andersson on harmonica and singer Colm Doyle. Their excellent online performance at the virtual event United In Music on November 5th 2021 showcased the potential of the harmonica for performing Irish fiddle tunes, in combination with the rich tradition of Irish song.
Festival director Steve Baker and his band the LiveWires will perform a selection of tunes from his two recent solo albums Perfect Getaway and The Great Divide. Baker has succeeded in integrating his unmistakeable harmonica style into his thoughtful songwriting, mixing influences from blues, rock, funk and country with the energy of British beat music to create an exciting and highly individual fusion.
